Fast Talk Laboratories and James Hey, The Cycle Coach, Announce "The Performance Collective" to Elevate Global Cycling Federations and Coach Development

Boulder, Colorado, USA and London, England — September 3, 2026 — Fast Talk Laboratories, the industry-leading endurance sports science and coaching education platform, and James Hey, founder of The Cycle Coach and former UCI Pan American Development Manager, are proud to announce the launch of a groundbreaking new partnership, The Performance Collective.

Designed to support cycling federations, coaches, and athletes worldwide, The Performance Collective is a collaborative initiative aimed at bridging the critical gaps many cycling federations face: sports science knowledge, high performance coaching experience, programs that help coaches develop and advance, and the support federations need to succeed in today’s highly competitive sport where real-world expertise separates podium contenders from the rest of the pack.

National cycling federations and independent coaches frequently struggle to translate fragmented knowledge into consistent, practical action. The Performance Collective was created to address this challenge directly. The Performance Collective is a flexible, customizable support ecosystem that integrates applied coaching, robust coach development, federation-level support, and practical performance guidance into one seamless platform.

The Performance Collective is built upon three core pillars:

Developing Coaches: Combining Fast Talk Laboratories’ world-class knowledge base—featuring renowned experts like Dr. Stephen Seiler, Joe Friel, and Dr. Iñigo San Millán—with 1-to-1 mentorship, peer group meetings, and internationally recognized coach certification developed in conjunction with USA Cycling.
Building Athletes: James Hey helps federations enhance talent identification, testing and benchmarking, long-term athlete development (LTAD), and road and track camp support to elevate competition preparation, drawing on specialist expertise from across our growing network of industry practitioners and coach developers..
Strengthening Federations: The Cycle Coach and Dr. Tim Jones offer grassroots-to-international federation consultation, comprehensive program reviews, and athlete camp planning, while Fast Talk Labs offers expertise in coach certification, licensure, and coach development programs.

The Performance Collective is spearheaded by a powerhouse leadership team: James Hey, a UCI Level 4 Coach Expert who previously designed a regional development framework engaging over 30 national federations across the Americas; Trevor Connor, CEO of Fast Talk Laboratories and co-host of the internationally respected Fast Talk podcast; and Dr. Tim Jones, an Applied Coaching Specialist, researcher, and educator with extensive global experience helping coaches effectively apply their learning in real-world environments.
